Bob Brillante: Pioneering NTD News

Robert John Brillante, an entrepreneur and staunch advocate against racism, embarked on a journey that led to groundbreaking contributions in media. Born on February 27, 1959, Brillante’s upbringing on a U.S. Army base in Germany laid the foundation for his future endeavors. Following his father’s military service retirement, the Brillante family settled in central Florida, where Brillante’s father established the pioneering Florida Cable, the state’s inaugural cable television company.

Brillante’s formative years were immersed in the cable television industry, learning invaluable lessons from his father. His educational pursuits culminated in joining the Florida Cable Telecommunications Association (FCTA), where he ascended to the role of Executive Vice President. During his tenure, Brillante catalyzed the establishment of various media enterprises, demonstrating his acumen and leadership.

Amidst his professional pursuits, Brillante finds solace in his personal life, sharing it with his wife, Dana Brillante. Their abode in North Florida reflects Brillante’s commitment to both family and community, evident in his volunteer work with rescued animals and mentorship of underprivileged youth.

Brillante’s career trajectory was shaped by his early immersion in the cable industry, from climbing telephone poles to advocating for legislative and regulatory initiatives at FCTA. His notable accomplishments include legislative victories safeguarding cable TV access for low-income communities and pioneering the Sunshine Network, a regional sports network.

The culmination of Brillante’s tenure at FCTA marked the inception of Florida’s News Channel (FNC) in 1998. FNC revolutionized television news with innovative technologies, setting industry standards in production and distribution.
